How To Make Baked Gnocchi Bolognese

MAKING THE MEAT SAUCE (BOLOGNESE)

Start by chopping the onions and bell peppers, then crushing the garlic cloves and setting to side.

In a pan, heat up some oil and sauté the vegetable until the onions are translucent and fragrant. Add your ground beef to the skillet. Break the meat apart in the pan and mix. Cook the meat until it’s brown.

Next, add a your tomato sauce, mix together, and let simmer for 10 minutes.

Making the gnocchi Pasta

If you chose to save some time, grab some store-bought gnocchi pasta. Remove from packaging and cook pasta in salted water with a splash of oil and a thyme spig until al dente. Follow cooking instructions on the package.

BAKED GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE

Now, its time to combine the gnocchi pasta with the meat sauce. Mix together to evenly coat the gnocchi. Transfer everything into a baking dish. Add mozzarella cheese on top. Then bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted an golden brown.

Ingredients
  

Gnocchi Bolognese

  • 16 oz package Gnocchi
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • ½ cup Red and Green Bell Peppers
  • ½ cup Onion
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • ¼ Scotch Bonnet you only need a small piece
  • 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese shredded
  • 10 oz Tomato Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Seasoned Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • ½ tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil extra virgin
  • 1 sprig Thyme

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Boil gnocchi in salted water with thyme sprig and olive oil as directed on packaging
  • Chop onions, bell peppers, and garlic and sauté in pan with 1 tbsp of oil. Slice a small piece of the scotch bonnet and add to pan. The more you add the spicier the sauce will be. Cook until fragrant and the onions are translucent.
  • Add in ground meat and cook through until brown.
  • Add tomato sauce and mix in.
  • Add seasonings to taste, mix, and let simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  • Drain the gnocchi pasta and add gnocchi to bolognese.
  • Add gnocchi bolognese to baking dish.
  • Top with mozzarella cheese and bake for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown
  • Serve and Enjoy!
