Ingredients For Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

Find all the Ingredients you need for this recipe in my Good Eats and Epis Amazon Storefront HERE.

  • Linguine Pasta. Probably one of my favorite types of pasta to use because it works so well with cream based pasta sauces, and it is so versatile.
  • Raw Shrimp. Starting off with raw shrimp allows you to get as much flavor as possible in the dish. I like to buy mines already peeled and deveined you can keep the tail on or take it off that’s up to you, but I like to keep mines on.
  • Onion. A staple in most of my dishes, the onions add such a great flavor to this pasta recipe.
  • Garlic. Be very generous with the garlic. I prefer to use fresh garlic cloves and crush them using a pestle and mortar.
  • Red Bell Pepper. This adds a nice color and flavor to the Alfredo sauce.
  • Spinach. I use fresh spinach leaves and cut them into small pieces to incorporate into the sauce. It adds a nice color and texture to the finished product. And it’s an added bonus to throw some greenery to such a decadent dish.
  • Heavy Cream. The base of the Alfredo sauce that will help us achieve the thick and creamy pasta sauce.
  • Butter. I recommend using unsalted butter for this dish.
  • Olive Oil. This is optional you can just stick to the butter but the olive oil helps with getting the golden-brown finish on our shrimp.
  • Parmesan Cheese. The most important flavor component of our Alfredo sauce. I recommend using freshly grated Parmesan, but it’s OK if you get already shredded cheese at the grocery store.
  • Seasonings. A big fan of spices! The seasoning we’re using will bring it all together and make this dish even more perfect.

What If I Don’t Like Shrimp?

Have a shellfish allergy? That’s not a problem. Try this recipe out, but alternate the shrimp for some chicken breast, steak, or salmon. That’s what I love about this Alfredo pasta recipe. It is so versatile, and can be paired with so many varieties of proteins and ingredients. You can skip the meat altogether and just add vegetables or tofu. There is always an alternative that can help satisfy your dietary needs.

How To Make Creamy Shrimp Alfredo Pasta

Choosing and Cooking Your Pasta

Start by boiling your pasta. I love using Barilla or De Cecco for my pasta. They are affordable, and you can find it anywhere. For this recipe, we are using linguine but you are welcomed to grab the fettuccine if you’d like. Follow the instructions on that package for an al dente finish and set to the side. Add a generous pinch of salt and a splash of extra virgin olive oil to the boiling water to add some flavor and avoid the sticky pasta fiasco.

Prepare the Ingredients

Next, chop and dice up your fresh onion, bell pepper, garlic cloves, and spinach. You can take this time out to also freshly grate your parmesan cheese. Using fresh and high-quality ingredients will also make the flavors more robust and the texture of the Alfredo sauce better

Shrimp Alfredo Ingredients

Making the Shrimp

Next, you want to prepare your shrimp. Take the time to really clean your shrimp with some lime juice and make sure all the impurities are out. I like to get a package of raw shrimp that is already peeled and deveined, but it doesn’t hurt to double-check. Pat the shrimp dry after rinsing. Grab your seasonings and coat the shrimp on both sides. Be as generous or light-handed as you like. I usually don’t measure and just add until it feels right, unless I’m baking, of course.

Time to make cook the shrimp. Start to sauté the onions, peppers, and garlic until it’s translucent. Then add the shrimp into the pan and cook until it’s golden brown on both sides then remove the shrimp and sit to the side.

COOKING THE ALFREDO SAUCE

Now it’s time to make our delicious Alfredo sauce.

Start by adding the heavy cream into the dish and mixing until it reduces a little bit. Then add your Parmesan cheese and your spinach and allow the cream to thicken.

Sometimes it’s a bit difficult to get the right consistency when it comes to making Alfredo sauce so it’s important to balance out the amount of cream and cheese you add to the pan.

Add more seasonings to taste and allow the sauce to simmer for a few minutes.

Once you get the right consistency add your shrimp and your pasta back into the pan and combine it all together.

Put your creamy Alfredo pasta on a pretty plate garnish with some pepper flakes and more Parmesan cheese until your heart is full.

  • Sauté the vegetables until the onions become translucent then add shrimp to the pan.
  • Cook shrimp until golden brown on both sides. Time will vary depending on size of shrimp and if it's raw or cooked shrimp, but it only takes a few minutes on each side.
  • Once cooked, remove shrimp from the pan and place in a bowl to the side.

Notes

  • It’s best to serve the Alfredo pasta fresh, because second day Alfredo sauce can begin to separate, but it’s still all the bit flavorful.

  • I prefer to use raw shrimp for the added flavor and I like to keep the tail on for more flavor, but do whatever makes you happy.
  • You can always adjust the seasonings to your own personal taste and liking.
  • This recipe works well with all types of pasta, linguine, fettuccine , or penne. Use what you have.
  • Using freshly grated cheese is always a added bougie bonus
  • Feel free to freestyle what veggies you want to add to the recipe. Throw in some broccoli if you’re feeling fancy.
