For The Bubble Tea Lovers
I fell in love with bubble tea while spending a weekend in the city. A casual walk through the streets and a sprinkle of dehydration led myself and a group of friends into a bubble tea shop. With a variety of flavors and chewy tapioca pearls, I just knew I had to find the ingredients and attempt to make it at home in my mini home cafe. Not only is it cost effective, but it gives you the option to try various concoctions of bubble tea flavors. This is what led to this Earl Grey and Chai Milk Tea Recipe.
I always have an assortment of tea bags in my home. From ginger, earl grey, to chai, starting or ending the day with fresh hot tea can really set the tone. And when I found boba at my local H Mart, my at-home tea experience forever changed for the better.
I didn’t know how easy it was to make bubble tea at home. All you need is your favorite tea flavor, milk, sugar, and tapioca pearls.

How To Make Earl Grey Milk Tea
MAKING BOBA: Most store bought black tapioca pearls come with simple instructions on the package, and it takes less than 10 minutes. Start by boiling a pot of water. Add your boba to the pot. Once they float to the top, cover the lid and cook for 5 minutes, or more depending on how soft you want them to be. Then place in ice cold water for about 3 minutes, and then drain and add your sweetener of choice ( I like caramel syrup) while it’s still a bit warm. Mix together and add to your favorite drink.
MAKING TEA: As simple as it gets, boil a pot of water or use an electric kettle to heat up about 1 cup of water. Steep your tea bags of choice for about 4 minutes, and put to the side. if you want hot or cold bubble tea, place tea to the side and allow to cool.
If serving hot, skip the ice and enjoy!
BUBBLE TEA: The final step is to bring it all together. Add you boba, ice, sweetener, tea, and a splash of milk. Grab your thick straw and enjoy!
