How To Make Fried Plantains (Bannann Peze)
Prep You PLantain
Rinse the plantain under some water. Then remove the skin by cutting off the two ends and ends slicing down the middle of the skin and peeling it off.
Now cut the plantains at an angle about one and a half inches thick.
Add the plantain pieces into a bowl of salted water and let soak for 3 to 5 minutes. While the plantains are soaking, heat up a pot of oil.
Frying the Plantain
Remove from salted water and pat dry. Then add the plantains into the hot oil and fry until they are slightly golden. Remove from the oil in place on a piece of paper to remove the excess oil.
Flatten the plantains using either the bottom of a cup, the bottom of a bowl, or a plantain masher if you have one. If you want to make bowl shaped fried plantains you can use a lemon squeezer to create the shape.
Now it’s time to fry the plantain’s again. Put them back in the oil until they are completely golden brown. Pay close attention so they don’t burn. Once they are fully cooked, remove them from the oil and place on a piece of paper or pad to drain the express oil. Then sprinkle some salt on to the plantains and Enjoy!
